Winter Wonderland

Having returned from my holiday in Scotland feeling quite depressed at the thought of having to go back to work, I decided to cheer myself up by reminding myself that my favourite event of the year is fast approaching…Christmas.

It is far too early to put up decorations and having heard my Mum complain all day that Christmas adverts are starting earlier and earlier every year, I wouldn’t dream of creating a Christmas grotto…quite yet. However, a winter wonderland is definitely allowed. After all it does feel like winter even though November is technically still autumn.

I have introduced a couple of small touches to take our home from autumn into winter. To do so I have given some of my rich amber decorations a snowy makeover.

You may remember the white branch that I used to create the bat mobile for Halloween. I have simply combined this with some faux red berries and placed them in a vase to create a winter arrangement. You may have also noticed that the berries formed part of the autumn floral arrangement covered in cobwebs for Halloween.

Another very quick and easy trick to transform autumn into winter is by introducing some pine cones into your displays. This arrangement of candles was used at Halloween with drippings of blood and splatterings of creepy crawlies. I have simply scattered some pine cones amongst the candles and now it is a glistening silver wonderland.

These are just a few small ideas to replace winter blues with festive hues.
